As the launch sponsor for HBO Originals *The Penguin*, my team and I were tasked with answering a simple yet profound question: *What is a legend?* The result was a 45-second animation that immerses viewers in a unique, Gotham-inspired world where Jefferson Bourbon thrives.
We crafted the creative concept and collaborated closely with an illustrator to design this “Gotham-esque” universe, blending noir elements with the rich, smooth tones of Jefferson Bourbon. The flat illustrations commissioned for this project were brought to life by our talented motion artist, transforming static images into a vivid, animated journey. As viewers travel through this dynamic world, they catch glimpses of the characters, settings, and experiences that define this legendary space.
From start to finish, this entire project—conceptualization, illustration, and animation—was completed in just four weeks. The final piece not only highlights Jefferson Bourbon’s connection to the world of *The Penguin*, but also draws viewers into a narrative that teases the richness and depth of its characters and the stories they inhabit.
